It's home to many brands that we bloggers covet and is a one-stop shop for anyone's beauty needs.
One of those brands is the bright, beautiful and full of personality Lime Crime, one of the original matte liquid lipsticks to come onto the screen. Ya know, the things you can't scroll past five photos on Instagram without seeing one? Yeah. Those.
I remember coming across the Velvetines years ago and back then there were only two or so shades and now there is 23! The packaging was slightly different than it is now, but still v v v cute!
I've been in total two minds about matte liquid lipsticks. I have never massively been overly sold by super matte lipsticks that dry your lips out and give that chalky effect, and I suppose that's put me off picking them up in the past.
Who wants their lips to crack on a night out? Not me for sure!
But when I come across those lip products that are matte and comfortable. Well. Take my money will ya?!
The Lime Crime Matte Velvetines (£16) are stunningly packaged. In an almost frosted glass casing and rose painted ruby red lid, they're definitely pretty to have on top of your makeup station.
They come with the classic doe-foot applicator, as you'd expect with these types of products. I do find the application of liquid lipsticks slightly difficult as I always end up making a bloody mess. I recommend finishing off with concealer on a fine brush around the mouth to smooth the lines - seems to do the trick for me!
The actual product is vanilla scented and dries fairly quickly on the lips. Prep is absolutely necessary with this; you want no dry patches or skin on your lips at all to make the perfect canvas. Flaky lips + liquid lipstick = NO GO!
The product sits on the lips in a suede like texture, not chalky, but not completely soft either. The super simple solution to soften it up is to add a gloss and blot so that it doesn't feel as matte.
The colours are absolutely next level insane. Fully pigmented and unique in their own way, I'd definitely say they are more of a 'night out lip' for myself, but if you're brave enough to wear the darker shades throughout the day I salute you!
The lipsticks are suuuuuper long lasting and take a waterproof remover to get rid of the full thing, which is brilliant for long days and nights or if you're doing a lot of eating and drinking!
Did you know that Lime Crime are also completely vegan and cruelty free? BONUS! Head on over to Cult Beauty now to have a gander over their stunning range of shades.
