Beauty Blogging and Pageviews

By Brokebutbeautiful @never2broke4bea

Blogging etiquette means that talking about your pageviews is a little bit of a tabboo subject, but I'm going to do it anyway!
Beauty Blogging and pageviews As its the end of the month a lot of beauty bloggers, myself included, will be checking our Google Analytics stats to see how our pageviews compare to the previous months. Now I know that during the #bbloggers chats a lot of beauty bloggers proclaim that page views and GFC followers aren't important. They definitely aren't the be all and end all but would every single blogger really post if nobody read their blog? In all honesty, I'm not convinced I would because I do love the fact that people read my blog and I do check my page views quite regularly.
Yes, I do check my pageviews but I have no idea what counts as good or bad on this front. I don't personally know anyone else who runs a beauty blog so I have no idea what page views I should be aiming for. Whilst trying to look up some information on this subject I came across an article by Jennifer James on the Mom Bloggers Club site. This article is about advertising rates for American parenting blogs, however in this article she looks at three different, hyperthetical parenting blogs.
The first blog is described as an 'up and coming blogger with growing readership.' The stats for an up and coming blog,  according to Jennifer, are 500 unique visitors each month and 1100 page views a month with the blogger posting around 5 times a week. The second blog is described as having 'a loyal following' with 3500 unique visitors a month and 10,000 page views a month. The third is described as being a 'popular blog' and reaches 15,000 unique visitors a month and 45,000 page views a month.
I have no idea if these stats apply to beauty blogs or not but I found this interesting as I do wonder how many page views are realistic to aim for and how many means you have a successful blog. Maybe I'm just nosey and maybe page views aren't important at all but if I said I wasn't curious I'd be lying.
For the sake of disclosure I fit into the 'loyal following' category but I have no idea if this is a lot of page views or not! However, I'm happy with this, I have three jobs and so only manage to post 3 to 4 times a week. I don't want to compete with other bloggers, I can't see any merit in that because everyone has different reasons for blogging and can dedicate different amount of times to their blogs. If my page views continue to increase each month and people continue to read my blog then I'll be happy. Plus, page views aren't really how I measure the success of my blog, the most rewarding part is when people leave comments, tweet me and follow my blog. Thanks to everyuone who does take the time to do that!
