New York-based, French photographer Franck Bohbot captures the beauty of libraries in his ongoing series House of Books. Traveling to cities like Paris, Rome, and Boston, the photographer has created a  record of these bastions of knowledge and learning that have been the pillars of civilization for thousands of years.

Part of the beauty of these libraries is the architectural splendour, the thought given to lighting, their design and how all of this interacts with the addition of books and artefacts filling their rooms. The smell of the libraries and their old books and the atmosphere created by such a huge space that is dead quiet is obviously harder to capture in a photograph so if you are near any of these libraries try and see them for yourself.
