Back on the Road (Maryland)

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

My posting may be a bit sporadic this week, I am in the Washington D.C. area for work all week and have some long (but good) days ahead of me. After a 4am wake-up this morning and a flight I was starving by the time we landed. We grabbed our rental car and headed out to one of our offices. One of the things I love the most about my new job is the team. So motivated, they are all foodies and for the most part pretty health conscious.

Now let me just add that there is a time and place to just throw caution to the wind and enjoy yourself. That was lunch today! Down the road from our office there is a tiny taco place inside a Shell gas station. And when I say tiny I mean tiny! You could maybe get 4 or 5 people in there just to order. But it was worth it. Having been featured on Diners, Drive In’s and Dives there is always a line. We got a variety of tacos to share and I had a carnitas torta as well. And since we were already splurging I opted for a Tamarind Juaritos. My all time favorite soda (behind ice cold fountain coke). It was great to meet the rest of the team over lunch and I am definitely going to need a nap… Too bad that won’t happen. We’ve got 5+ hours of meetings in front of us.

Tacos

I read blog posts sometimes and see people who are so obsessed with food. I do believe in feeding my body healthy foods but if I want a few tacos and a torta I am going to eat it. I will probably opt for something a little more veggie heavy for dinner to balance it all out. 80/20 rule all the way. When I travel I do usually pack some healthy snacks with me too, today I had grapes, baby carrots, nuts, Kind bars and I am always carrying a water bottle. I search out a fountain and keep it filled. No reason in feeling dehydrated.

I’ll update with a few more photos from this week’s adventures on Thursday!
