Sooo before you read any further, let me explain the story behind this post…
A little while ago I got a sneak peek at the Nasty Gal October lookbook, and the above image of the babe with stacked sunglasses reminded me of a picture of me as a kid (see left). It got those wheels a spinning. I continued to browse through more of my childhood photos and there was a recurring theme going on. I kept saying in my head, “Wow I wish I had that outfit now”.
I decided to reach out to some of my babe-a-licious buddies to help me out with this post. I asked them to send me a picture of themselves as a kid so that I could see how many of the trends they were wearing then are on trend now. What I found out… everything really does come back into style at some point or another. Which is the exact reason I am such a closet hoarder.
All the pictures on the left are my girls as little ones, and the right is a modern day photo portraying the trend they once were rocking. Get it? Got it? Good.
+ My adorable roommate and bff, Torrie, rocking a flower crown at the ripe age of probably 4? Now-a-days boho chic girls everywhere own atleast one fabulous flower crown. Myself included.
+ Lauryn, to this day is the queen of hot swimsuits, and I see she started young. On my shopping list for next summer? This adorabbble lemonade colored peplum one-piece.
+ I don’t know what kid didn’t have a Mickey tee, but I am pretty sure mine wasn’t a cool baseball tee like Katie’s. Fashion bloggers everywhere are stocking up on this classic character…and I actually just scored a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt myself. Loooove it.
+ From the looks of baby Kika & her grown up counterpart, I guess menswear makes you timid? Regardless, I really love this look… I don’t know if I could pull it off, but I am thinking I will give it a try.
+ My sister is literally the cutest child ever, and my mom sure knew how to dress us. Drop waist dress, Peter Pan collar, and colored Ray Bans? Dammmnnn… I don’t think I dress that cute now. Anyways, as you may have noticed everywhere, Peter Pan collars are back with a vengeance.
+ Who doesn’t want to pass out in a fur coat? Little diva Laur looks like she had one too many glasses of Dom, but atleast she knows a good black fur coat is a closet staple.
