A special year this year, as Andre Agassi is inducted into the Hall of Fame and will play an exhibition match against Todd Martin. It also seems like the field this year is strong as a result. Mardy ‘Multi-Surface’ Fish defends and it’s a good chance for some of the US players who exited early at Wimbledon to make amends.
A big opportunity to shine
Americans Ryan Harrison and Ryan Sweeting have entered to play and Ivo ‘Lottery’ Karlovic and Tommy ‘Gun’ Haas are true wildcards this year. Querry’s indifferent season continues with a late withdrawal. The young guns of Dimitrov and Kamke play too, so it should keep things exciting in the early rounds. Big John Isner takes a wild card and will most likely be top seed if Fish withdraws after Wimbledon heroics.
This tournament often throws up a surprise winner and is one of the best ones to visit if you get the chance. It still remains the only ATP tournament played on grass in North America.
