Now, while most of the limelight goes to the bigger cities such as Trivandrum and Cochin, there are places such as Athirapally which have some of the best tourist places. Kerala is also well known for the many beautiful and enchanting waterfalls that exist there. We will now take a look at some of them in further detail.

Most of the popular media will highlight the waterfalls as the key Athirapally attractions. Falling from a height of close to about 80 feet, the falls here is known to be the highest in the state. It falls beautifully into the river Chalakudy.

The forest that the fall is situated at is known Sholayar forest ranges and it is bestowed with some of the beautiful flora. Many people who go there say that they like the solitude and the peace that this place holds. It is advised to visit Athirapally in the month of April. There are many spots in the area around the waterfalls where you can either relax or have a picnic. People go there for picnic with their friends and families.

For those who are interested in wildlife you will spot Forest Cane Turtle, the Lion-Tailed Macaque and the Nilgiri Langur and the like while you are here. That is also one of the key attractions here. Other than that, if you are the more adventurous type then this place is also great for treks.

If you can find a good place then you will get a good view of the villages close to it. The view is indeed spectacular from some of the peaks and the cliffs. Caution, however, must be taken while you are here. This means that you should not go to close to the water while you are at the waterfalls.
