As They Did An Internal, My Baby’s Heartbeat Stopped

I had a brilliant pregnancy with my little girl Roxy now 2 years old, until I hit 29 weeks. I went to my midwife for my routine check and I had raised blood pressure and I had protein in my urine. I was sent to to hospital for monitoring and had to keep going regularly.

One of the midwives there was really horrible to me, suggesting I was making my blood pressure raise and go back down on its own, even called me an enigma. After a couple of weeks of going for monitoring I was admitted into ward 10, as my blood pressure again was too high and it didn’t seem to go down.

I was there until I was 34 weeks, then I was let home with Labetalol to lower it. I was home for 2 days when I started bleeding.

I was rushed back into hospital where I remained until I was 35 weeks. I was having contractions and as they were rising, my baby’s heartbeat was falling.

They took me to the labor ward telling me I would have to have a c section; they went to get all the things ready for me. When I had an internal and my placenta erupted my baby’s heartbeat had stopped.

I had never felt so heartbroken in my life, I was really confused and didn’t really have a clue what was going on, and to top it off my partner fainted, I was alone.

I was rushed to theater and had to be put to sleep and Roxy was born at 00.47 on the 5th December 2009 weighing 4lbs, she was taken to the Special Care Baby Unit as she wasn’t breathing and was floppy. She stayed in hospital for 11 days and then was allowed to come home.

She is now a healthy happy 2year old. I had a rough time for my 1st but I would do it all again for her and it hasn’t scared me that much as I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with baby number 2.
