Art Journal Fireworks Drawing

By Kathybarbro @KathyBarbro

Art Journal Fireworks DrawingThis is an exercise in radial drawing, but it makes a nice fireworks image when you fill up the page. It would look great on black paper too. You can use either a journal page or similar 6" x 9" drawing paper. Ask the students to place about 5 random dots on the page with a crayon or pencil crayon. Starting with one dot, they are to draw squiggle lines around it which radiate outwards. It should look like a small flower.
2. Next they switch colors and draw a squiggle band around that center flower. They repeat this process until they have their flower / firework fairly large. At some point they are to stop and start on the next dot, continuing until they bump into each other. This is repeated with all the dots until the shapes overlap each other and fill up the page.
