Argentine Restaurant: Zoilo, London

By Theneonhub @theneonhub

The unilluminated exterior and thick black curtain at the entrance makes Zoilo feel like a secret dining operation. Inside the restaurant space it is intimately lit with a long bar stretching across the left and a red banquette across the right seating tables. There is also additional seating downstairs. The colours are muted browns, creams and blues and the brick, wood and tiles add a rustic homely atmosphere.

Argentine chef Diego Jacquet has earned two AA Rosettes for his Cocina Argentina restaurant that “embraces the cultural diversity” and celebrates their “tremendous passion for food” through dishes that reflect Argentina’s “fascinating mix of cultures”. The menu is divided into Snacks, Empanadas, Sea, Land and Others (sides). We particularly enjoyed the Scallop, Pork belly & Chorizo small plate (£8.95) and the braised pigs head croquettes with apricot jam (£5.95). Our succulent Rib-Eye (£22.95) and Sirloin Steak (£23.95) both cooked to perfection was complimented by the refreshing grilled watermelon and ricotta salad (£6.95).

As you probably know Argentine beef is regarded one of the finest in the world because its large, open and lush pastures make for happy grass-fed cows that have freedom to roam. This roaming leads to more omega 3-rich beef than that of grain-fed cows and this high quality meat needs nothing more than to be seasoned with than a sprinkle of rock salt. Try with the Septima Obra from the Argentine-only wine list (£29.95 for a bottle).

Tip: Save room for dessert. The Banana Split Crème Brûlée is amazing.
