Are there 5 easy steps?

Everywhere we look we see ads, magazines articles that say “ 7 steps to improve your life”, “5 way to lose weight”, “7 things that will transform your marriage”, “ 5 important things to say to your wife”. And they all promise if you follow these steps your life will be transformed! We all are looking for quick fixes; we want our problems solved with the least possible resistance. I have read some books with similar titles, and yes I have been very encouraged by them, and many times I have made an effort to make the changes I need to make, but in the end I always feel I have started off wrong somehow. Why are we looking for quick fixes? Because we want  instant gratification, we want our reward now, and not later.

And yes there is some very good advice out there that can help you achieve your dream and goals.

But there is only One step, only One way!

If you want to have the best life, learn to treat your wife, husband, children in the best way possible, there is only one way and one way only and that is to follow Jesus! And by following Him we listen to his word, His teaching.   If we all trying to walk in his footsteps, follow His ways, we would not have problems in our marriages, families or lives. And yes there is a lot of good advice and yes; sometimes there are 7 good things to do to improve your life, marriage or family life.

Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Matt 16:24

I think that there are books  that can help us follow Jesus in the steps we need to take.  I know I need them sometimes to remind me to keep follow Him. But we need to know the first step we need to is: To follow Him!

When I read a book that encourages me to change I always try to find confirmation in the Bible and the most important thing, will this change also benefit others?

If I change just for me it is fine, but a good change will also benefit others like my wife, my children, my family, my friends or the world I live in!

Ask yourself today, what can I do or change, by following Jesus that will benefit others?

I know there is a change I need to make, that definitely will help others and that is that I can struggle with my mood! Sometimes I can get moody when I am concentrating on work or any other task that needs to be done.  And I know that my family is being affected in a negative way!   So I need to read what the Bible that says “Always be joyful”  and change my mood!

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

With blessings!!
