If you are greatly interested to learn German language, taking modernized learning method as an option makes a suitable idea. Besides, not all German learners find it comfortable to take language schools as their primary choice. Some just don’t like the typical classroom atmosphere at all. They’re all fed up with it in their daily learning on high school and college. At least, for one time, they want to take learning to a different way—especially when it is German language learning.

And speaking of learning methods and ways to learn German, an advertised method is what some learners are taking as options. Have you heard of the Michael Thomas Method? This is what I actually meant.

According to its site, this one easy method makes the learners effortlessly acquire foreign language without so many things to mind at all. “No books. No writing. No memorizing. Just confidence – fast.” That’s what’s it’s trying to convince learners. It emphasized that the learning is going to be stress-free. Moreover, learners would be expecting a “virtual classroom” due to the features of the method itself. And lastly, various celebrities have tried to use this method and they have proven that Michael Thomas Method is “unique and perfectly brilliant way of teaching languages”, quoting Stephen Fry’s testimonial.

But for you, personally, do you think this learning method is effective to let you learn German?

Personally, I don’t really agree that one learning method is better than another method based on some or few opinions from others. It’s not that I am questioning the effectiveness of the method itself. I just think that there are various kinds of learners who are capable of learning German by using other ways at all.

You see, no matter how modern or conventional a learning method is, as long as it’s effective to that particular learner, which is the best way to learn German. I can’t really say that since Michael Thomas Method is a modern method, it’s considered effective already. Like I said, various learners have different ways of acquiring it.

If the learner is comfortable and effective to learn German abroad, that is his method at all. Learning German abroad is not a modern method right? But it’s effective to him. Yet at the same time we can’t really push that abroad learning is the best way to learn German just because someone proved that he acquired the language through this method.

My point here is that all the learning methods are effective when we want to learn German. Whether it could be language school learning, a travel abroad option, or a modern method, as long as a learner acquired German through that method that is effective!

What is the effective way you acquired German language, by the way? Feel free to share your experiences.
