Nothing conjures up the ideal life quite like Hawaii, which has the highest ranking in the most recent well-being index. Despite the erroneous name of the event (see below and let us know if you figure out what’s wrong with the name), Hawaii is hosting a sustainability in higher education summit this month. 2nd Green Revolution writer Sean Connell is in the state, though will not attend the summit. He will report back as to the trends in the “Aloha state.”

With a decidedly “Ring of Fire” flavor, the events below represent just a smattering of those in the US (and abroad). While our list is far from complete, we are constantly updating it so, take a look at some of the choice events and peruse our calendar for conferences near you. Please let us know of any conferences, events, or festivals in your area in order to make our list more comprehensive. If they are appropriate, we will gladly add them to our green events calendar. Sustainable City Year Conference
When: Apr 10 – 12, 2013
Where: University of Oregon Eugene, Oregon
Description: The Sustainable Cities Initiative will hold a three-day conference in April 2013 for university representatives and partners who are interested in establishing an SCY program at their home institutions. This workshop is an opportunity for highly engaged, interactive, and participatory discussion on implementation techniques. This year we will also hear from institutions that have recently implemented the model around the country.

First Annual Hawaii Sustainability in Higher Education Summit
When: Apr 11 – 12, 2013
Where: University of Hawaii West O`ahu, Kapolei, HI
Description: The purpose of this summit is to establish a statewide and UH System sustainability agenda that will provide individual campuses with a framework for commitments and support campus efforts to move from vision to action.

Financing the Future of Energy Efficiency Summit
When: Wednesday, Apr 17, 2013
Where: University of San Diego
Description: The Summit’s theme is Transforming Energy Efficiency Upgrades from Expenses to High Return Investments, and it brings together leaders in financing sustainability with presidents, trustees, and senior officials in finance, facilities and sustainability at colleges, universities, foundations and other nonprofit institutions. Participants will hear from green revolving fund leaders and experts, network with individuals from other institutions, and participate in dynamic breakout sessions. The President of the Kresge Foundation, Rip Rapson, will deliver the keynote address.

Green California Summit: Greening By Example
When: Apr 18 – 19, 2013
Where: Sacramento Expo Center, Sacramento, CA
Description: A green revolution is unfolding, and California has the policy climate, public support, technology innovation and history of commitment to sustainability to remain at the leading edge of this revolution.
