It makes me wonder if people really think before they publish things. Which apparentlyRichie Whitt did not think about when he published a story.  Saying that witnessing the birth of your second child was no excuse for the Texas Rangers pitcher Colby Lewis to miss his last start. Here are his exact words

“Follow me this way to some confusion. Imagine if Jason Witten missed a game to attend the birth of a child. It’s just, I dunno, weird. Wrong even. Departures? Totally get it because at a funeral you’re saying goodbye to someone for the last time.

But an arrival is merely saying hello to someone you’ll see the rest of your life … Baseball players are paid millions to play baseball. If that means “scheduling” births so they occur in the off-season, then so be it.

Of the 365 days in a year, starting pitchers “work” maybe 40 of them, counting spring training and playoffs. If it was a first child, maybe. But a second child causing a player to miss a game?
Ludicrous”.

What a jerk i mean really give me a break. If Jason Witten, missed a game to attend the birth of a child its not weird its a social acceptable practice, regardless of your profession. He also is saying lets schedule a birth around the baseball season. Give me a break he is the only one complaining you don’t hear the Texas Ranger Organization saying.

Could you have your Child in the off season it will mess up our rotation thanks. He also ends by saying If it was a first child, maybe. But a second child causing a player to miss a game?
Ludicrous”.

Give me a break, its like he is putting a price on life. Something you can not do. It doesn’t matter how many children you have it is still special each time. I don’t have any children but, i would imagine someone would say something like that to a degree.
