Those of you with even the most passing knowledge of NASA will recognize the name Lovell if for no other reason than Tom Hanks portrayed the guy in the movie Apollo 13.
They were the first guys to orbit the moon, and thereby see the other side, the first to see Earth as a whole planet, and the first to witness Earthrise:
