The All Pakistan Muslim League (AMPL) succeeded to retain one national and one provincial assembly seats from Chitral, inspite of party’s boycott.

The APML candidate for NA-32 Shahzda Iftikharuddin, who had decided to go against party’s boycott decision, secured 19,938 votes against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Abdul Latif, who secured 16636 votes.

Former MPA Ghulam Muhammd also managed to retain the PK-90 after close contest against Pakistan People’s Party’s Sardar Hussain.

However, the APML lost the PK-89 to PPP after a close contest. Former minister Saleem Khan won the seat by grabbing 11285-votes. The AMPL candidate Shahzada Pervez secured 10,104 votes.

APML had announced to boycott the elections as a sign of protest against the rejection of nomination papers of party chief General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
