As many parents will testify, trying to get kids with sand covered toes to put their shoes on after a day on the beach can take the fun out of the sun very quickly. In fact, it's a problem that annoys over 89% of Brits surveyed.

But thanks to the launch of the Garnier Ambre Solaire Anti-Sand Service, the problem of getting sandy feet back into a pair of shoes and traipsing uncomfortably back to the car, could soon be a thing of the past.

The beach-side service launched this week on one of Britain's busiest sandy beaches, Margate. The Anti-Sand Service provides kids with some seaside pampering; a pre-beach application of anti-sand sun protection spray, and for those who haven't had the spray applied, a post-beach dusting, washing off and cleaning up of sand covered tootsies to eliminate the pesky problem of sandy toes on the way home.

Instead of the usual scenes of parents wrestling with towels and cajoling weary kids to clean off their feet, children instead hopped onto the shoe-shine style chairs to be treated to the Anti-Sand service, removing all traces of the beach before heading home.

The Anti-Sand Service is part of a wider summer Garnier Ambre Solaire campaign to guarantee fun in the sun whilst helping protect from the damaging effects of the sun. As part of the summer campaign, the brand conducted research with parents of 3-10 year olds, and found that:

- 60% of parents want more information on sun protection and how to look after their children's skin in the sun

- 33% of parents find applying sunscreen to their children difficult

- 38% of parents admit to not applying sun protection lotion often enough to their children as they get so irritable and uncomfortable

- 21% say they believe they sometimes don't put enough sunscreen on their children.

Garnier Ambre Solaire has launched an Anti-Sand Spray as part of its Easy Peasy Kids range this summer to provide no-fuss sun protection for families. The spray contains a special sand repelling agent which allows sunscreen to be absorbed and helps prevent sand sticking to the skin. Offering SPF 50+, it's never been so easy (peasy) to keep your family protected.

Dr Jennifer Jones, consultant dermatologist and advisor to Garnier Ambre Solaire, comments "The summer is such a fun time for kids to be playing outside, but it's vital that they protect their skin against harmful UV rays. Wearing a hat, t-shirt and sunglasses, as well as frequently applying and reapplying sunscreen after swimming, perspiring or towelling will help maintain protection. It is also highly recommended that babies and very young children are kept out of direct sunlight. Plus any products that can help address the challenges parents face with applying sunscreen to their kids, such as skin covered with sand, will help take the worry out of a fun day at the beach."

Now if only Ambre Solaire could guarantee the sun for the Bank Holiday weekend too...
