Annalibera, the beautifully moody project of Anna Gebhardt, originally began as a way to explore music outside of her classical education and pay homage to her influences like Kate Bush and PJ Harvey. The resulting collection of songs is an amazing journey through her fears and frustrations, epitomized by her first single, “Black Cat White Cat”. Written during a time of personal struggle and homesickness for the Nebraskan farm where she grew up, the song reflects on how she’s treated loved ones in the past, sharing her desire to go back and make adjustments. Its emotive vocals ebb and flow, reaching a climax during the chorus while a slow-burning mesh of synths, percussion and carefully plucked guitar swirl overhead.

The video for “Black Cat White Cat” explores this same concept — focusing on remembering the trials and errors of the teenage experience. Be sure to watch the video above and catch Annalibera’s debut album, Nevermind I Love You, out on Sump Pump Records March 24th.
