Andrew Mitchell Finally Resigns – Plebgate Concludes

Posted on the 19 October 2012 by Minimumcover @minimumcover

So it has finally happened. Chief Whip, Andrew Mitchell, has resigned after weeks of pressure surrounding his comments to the Police Officers guarding the gates of Downing Street. Speaking to publically clarify his account for the first time since the allegations were made, he said:

‘I have made clear to you – and I give you my categorical assurance again – that I did not, never have and never would call a police officer a ‘pleb’ or a ‘moron’ or used any of the other pejorative descriptions attributed to me,’ he wrote.

‘The offending comment and the reason for my apology to the police was my parting remark, ‘I thought you guys were supposed to f***ing help us’.

It seems that it might finally be time to consider removing all the pleb related tags from work boxes and social networking sites. I wonder how long it will be before the next time Police and Politicians clash? With PCC campaigns in full swing across the country, ‘Not long’ is probably the answer!
