And Lo, I Have Seen the Future and It's Scary!

By Davidduff

I seem to be repeating myself today - sorry, did you say something? - but this blog is always so far ahead of the news that long after I have raised a subject it finally appears elsewhere.  I mentioned before, but Lord knows where, the coming 'printer' revolution in which these giant 'printer-thingies' will take over the world.  Here I give you an early example:

And lo, I have seen the future and it's scary!

That is a house, 33 foot wide by 22 foot tall, and it was produced by a 'printer'.  This particular 'printer' can produce ten of those houses a day!  Yes, it's not exactly a mansion but if your normal dwelling is made of discarded sheets of tin and tyres and cardboard, it's a huge improvement.  This was made in China so you can expect several trillion more by the end of the month!  Meanwhile, in America some boffins reckon they can develop a 'printer' that will produce something like this at the rate of one a day!

And lo, I have seen the future and it's scary!

The ramifications that will arise from this new technique are so overwhelmingly enormous and complex that the mind, well, my mind anyway, simply boggles.  As usual with new technology, some people will suffer direly, particularly all those zillions worldwide who earn their living in the building industry.  However, again as usual, zillions2 will benefit.

I am obliged to Mish's Trend Analysis and IHTM for pointing me in the right direction.
