An Awkward Private Life Revealed [video]

I believe everyone has a private life. Some are too horrific, too out-of-this-world-unbelievable for even the closest of friends, so we keep these secrets close to our heart with a tightly secured chain. In the worst of cases, we may even throw away the key.  The much loved, synth-driven indie pop duo, Private Life, play on this idea with their latest single, “Mine”.

The video introduces the hilariously quirky Renee Anderson as she prepares for a romantic dinner for herself and her soon-to-be-arriving boyfriend whilst answering a call for the “1-800 Pussy-Hotline”. As the video continues, the male on the end of the line weaves erotic rocket and space references into what becomes a super saucy conversation. However, Miss Anderson is really more concerned with singing along to her own song.

The track itself is a gorgeous mix of sleek, yet husky vocals, upbeat percussion, and slightly aquatic sounding synths, giving it a certain Blondie-esque appeal. The band’s 2013 EP was released last month and is available on iTunes, but you can have a giggle while enjoying the featured clip above.
