Amy and Scott brought their close friends and family over from Bridlington in the UK to watch them get married in the Ladies’ Pavilion this June. I am so glad that they did bring their very talented family with them, because several of them also doubled-up as hairdressers and photographers! Amy and Scott met over Christmas of 2014, so have been together for a year and a half. They tell me that they knew instantly that they were a perfect match. They said that neither of them had considered marriage before, but when they mat they knew that they wanted to commit fully to each other. They felt that it was important for them to take their relationship to the next level, not only as a symbol to each other and the outside world, but also for their children. They got engaged at home in May last year, whilst enjoying a family barbecue together.

Once they got engaged Amy and Scott agreed straight away that the wanted to have a destination wedding. “We toyed with Las Vegas for a while,” said Amy, “but didn’t want our wedding feeling too much like a farce, we still wanted it to be taken seriously.” So, the chose New York and Central Park. “Central Park appealed because although it’s in the middle of New York, it takes you away from the hustle and bustle of city life and offers picturesque surroundings,” she told me. I totally agree, there is nowhere else like this.

I always ask couples if they had any worries about getting married in New York and Amy said “no concerns whatsoever thanks to Claire, it was just pure excitement.” I am very happy to hear that. I keep in regular touch with couples through the process and answer as many questions as I can, but often there are some worries, usually about the weather, and there is very little that we can do about that.

This was Amy and Scott’s first time in New York. They stayed at the Affina Hotel Manhattan. They had fifteen guests attend their wedding. Amy is a hairdresser and so is her mom so they did everyone’s hair between them. Amy had attended a course on how to do vintage make-up to prepare for the day, so she did her own makeup! And they all look awesome.

Their ceremony was held at the Ladies’ Pavilion. “It was private, and pretty,” said Amy. They took group photos at the Pavilion and beside the Lake. “That was amazing, because you can see the skyline in the background,” she added. Their photography team was Scott’s dad and Amy’s sister-in-law, and I think they did an incredibly professional job.

Amy wore a vintage style LouLou gown. She purchased it from the Bridal Gallery in their hometown. She had sent me some photos of the sort of flower arrangement she wanted for her bouquet and I passed this on to our florist. We can usually provide exactly what a bride wants with some photos of examples, if it is all in season. “My bouquet was a hand-tied wild flower arrangement and it was absolutely gorgeous, even better than expected,” said Amy.

After their wedding and photos in Central Park, they all took a riverboat cruise in the evening. They had a three course meal and enjoyed a live band on board. They said that they would highly recommend it.

I asked if they had any final thoughts to share and Amy said “all I can say is I can’t thank Claire enough. Her emails are so informative and helpful and totally keeps you feeling at ease, so just a big thank you!” She also added, “I wish I could do it all again!!” Thank you for sharing your story with us, Amy and Scott, I wish you the best of luck for your futures together, we are honoured to have been a part of your wedding.
