We need tax relief! Tax cuts! Middle class tax cuts! Tax credits! IRS thugs! It’s your money – you earned it, you keep it! Overworked and overtaxed! Crushing tax burden!
Ameritards are so silly. The poor darlings are always overtaxed! Even when they are paying nothing at all, like the vast majority of US corporations, they can’t stop screaming about taxes. It’s the corporate media’s favorite fetish too, since corporations want to be as little taxes as possible. As if that weren’t bad enough, your average American can’t stop bitching about taxes.
Cheating on your taxes is as American as Mom and apple pie, but it’s antisocial behavior. The IRS are the good guys. The tax cheats (that means you) are the bad guys. Paying taxes is a patriotic duty, and the IRS are the heroic cops who make sure that we fulfill our patriotic duty to pay our taxes. You have nothing to fear from the IRS unless you are a criminal who is cheating on his taxes.
Fidel Castro once joked that Americans would love Cuba since there are no taxes in Cuba. However, Cuba is thinking about instituting an income tax due to a large number of fairly high wage earners, and the self-employed (such as small restaurant and bed and breakfast owners), as the make more and more money, see more and more of it taken by the state. It’s not called a tax, but that’s what it is in effect. The self-employed don’t seem to mind because even with the state taking quite a bit of their earnings, they still live very well compared to your average Cuban.
Hating taxes is the right wing’s fetish. It’s too bad that modern Democrats (the liberal wing of the Republican Party) have bought into tax hating foolishness. Every time a Democrat screams that taxes are too high, you give Republicans a huge shot in the arm. Every time you cut taxes, you grow the deficit more and more.
And as the chart below shows, Americans don’t pay high taxes anyway. We pay some of the lowest taxes in the industrialized world. The only states that are lower are Chile and Mexico, which are basically Latin American Turd World shitholes. That’s what you get when you don’t tax your people – the Libertarian dream, a Turd World shithole with a hollowed out state, vast gaps between rich and poor, the rich behind walls and barbed wire, the teeming masses surrounding them in fetid slums, no worker, citizen, consumer or environmental rights, horrific pollution and environmental damage, regular riots in the streets, nightmarish corruption, and death squads to keep it all running along smoothly.
