American Expats in the Netherlands Survey
Students at NHTV (University of Applied Sciences) in Breda are doing research on Americans living in the Netherlands.
Their research deals with campaigning and advertising in the US and how they target Americans, specifically. As part of their research, they are interviewing American expats in the Netherlands.
This research is part of an international program involving students from several different countries. Their task is to create an advertising campaign for a museum in Antwerp set to open in 2012.
The museum centers on the shipping company, Red Star Line. Between 1873 and 1934, the Red Star Line transported more than 2 million people from Europe to America and back.
Visitors to the Red Star Line Museum will get an inside look on the history of transport between these two continents via the Red Star Line and how it helped to make the relationship between the two - as well as the individual continents themselves - what it is today.
To aid them in their research, students at NHTV have compiled an online questionnarie and will also be interviewing people in person.
You can expect questions such as: What message in an advertisement convinces you to buy a certain product or service? What kind of advertisements stay in your mind? What are their characteristics?
If you are an American living in the Netherlands and you would like to participate in this research either by interview or online questionnaire (or both!), contact Dide Evers, Project Manager, NHTV research and consultancy group at rsl.research.nhtv@gmail.com.
And, while we're on the topic, what is your favorite Dutch or American commercial? Please share in the comments.
