Always the Sun Music & Arts Festival Takes Place in Stoke Park, Guildford on 10 and 11 September 2016

Guildford’s Boileroom turns 10 years old this year and as part of their celebrations, the team are putting on a huge community, arts and music festival called Always the Sun in Stoke Park. Taking place on 10 and 11 September, the event has a DIY aesthetic running right the way through and the price of just £20 per day or £40 for the weekend (with child tickets at £10 a day/£20 a weekend and under 11s admitted free) makes it an affordable, brilliant event for the whole family to enjoy.

Mystery Jets and Turin Brakes are set to headline the festival while the support bill features some of 2016’s hottest new bands including Spring King, The Big Moon and The Amazons. There are also some established festival favourites joining in the fun with Dub Pistols and – given the name of the festival, he had to play some part – Hugh Cornwell, the original frontman of The Stranglers. Some of our favorite new acts are also playing – Hannah Lou Clark, Annabel Allum and Sports Team will all be appearing on the main stage.

There will be a DIY stage which will find our friends over at Rose Coloured, Jasta 11 and This is Not Revolution Rock teaming up with other esteemed, local promoters (GU1 Punx, Quatre Femmes, Odyxxey to name but a few) to bring together some of their favorite  acts. The line-up is yet to be announced but we’re pretty sure it will be something special… watch this space

As if this wasn’t enough, there is also an Outdoor Kitchen (featuring Great British Bake Off and MasterChef stars), therapies to try and enjoy in the House of Hatha, plenty of arts and crafts, local theatre, the quite incredible-sounding Imaginarium and food and drink from local street food vendors.

All in all, this sounds like a huge celebration of local arts and culture that will be one of the highlights of late summer.
