A Lufthansa A340, wearing Star Alliance livery, on final approach to SJC.  With 27 member airlines, Star Alliance is the second largest airline alliance. Most Star Alliance members paint some of their aircraft with the alliance livery, a white fuselage with “Star Alliance” across it and a black tail fin with the alliance logo; the color of the engine cowlings and/or winglets remains the member’s livery.  The A340- 300 is the most popular model of this airliner with Lufthansa being the biggest operator of the type, having acquired 59.  Production of the type ended in 2011 after 377 were delivered and the market dried up with the transition to twin-engined aircraft for long distance routes.  Nikon D500 w/Tamron 150-600 mm, processed with Aperture.
