Software security exploits always makes headlines but more often than not Adobe has been in news for the deadly exploits discovered in the ever so famous Flash player. Adobe has now issued an emergency patch for its Flash Media player that closes loopholes which are being actively exploited.
The exploits are so severe that Adobe has alerted security researchers at Google, Microsoft, Kaspersky Labs and Alibaba.
As per Adobe, the exploits are being used in "limited number of targeted attacks", but attackers are abusing these exploits in ways that are a big threat to the end-user. Attackers can not only spy on the user's computer but also steal useful data via these exploits.
The update released on March 10th 2016 under the identifier APSB16-08 fixes 23 separate security bugs in the Flash player. This patch is available and must be updated for all platforms which include Windows, Mac and Linux as well as Android and iOS.
Security firms and several big software companies which include Firefox have updated, patched and closed various vulnerabilities of which more than half of them were rated as critical updates.
If you are on Windows, a patch was released by Microsoft KB3144756 : MS16-036: Security update for Adobe Flash Player: March 10, 2016 which would have automatically updated your Flash Player.
