Adina Porter (Lettie Mae Thornton) has been promoted to series regular for True Blood season 7. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news this afternoon. Porter’s promotion is a long time coming as she is one of the cast members from the show to have been with it from the beginning.
The actress has also been with HBO’s the Newsroom since its start as well playing Kendra Shaw.Prior to the promotion, Adina was a special guest star. Adding her to the cast is a smart move considering that the last time we saw Lettie Mae, she was making amends with her vampire daughter Tara (Rutina Wesley) just as HEP-V infected vampires descended on Bon Temps.
True Blood season 7 is expected to be more town-centric which is why we may be seeing more promotions as opposed to new characters.
The final season of True Blood airs in 2014.
