Actor Profile: Jennifer Lopez

Posted on the 25 July 2015 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

I finally get to do an Actor profile for an actress. So excited. It’s a little funny that my first actress is Jennifer Lopez, but she meets my criteria. I’ve seen at least 10 films with J.Lo in it.

BEST PERFORMANCE:
I’m gonna give this to Out Of Sight, the crime caper that has always suggested that J.Lo has a bit more in her than her films would want you to know about. She was so awesome, her Karen Sisco even got a TV show (albeit, with Carla Gugino in the role).

MOST ICONIC PERFORMANCE:
She’s probably better known as a singer, or as a judge on American Idol, but her most iconic film role is probably still Selena. It was her first big break, and she played an iconic singer who is still somewhat iconic today.

MOST UNDERRATED PERFORMANCE:
I actually really liked her in An Unfinished Life with Josh Lucas and Robert Redford. Also, she was pretty good in The Cell.

BEST PERFORMANCE I’VE HEARD WAS GREAT AND HAVEN’T SEEN
I never got around to seeing El Cantante. I heard it was OK, and she was pretty good in it.

WORST PERFORMANCE
I’m not going to pick Anaconda. I’m not going to pick Gigli. I know. It’s just too obvious. I really didn’t like The Wedding Planner. I think she was trying to branch out as a marketable leading actress, but her films prior to that included some really dark indie stuff like U-Turn, Blood and Wine, and the aforementioned Out Of Sight. It’s like she was trying to be a completely different kind of actress, then she decided to do romcoms, and everything went to shit. So I credit The Wedding Planner for turning Jennifer Lopez into a ditzy box office quasi-star. She could have been something better.
