Chicago Loop Alliance is bringing back ACTIVATE, a series of events that transform alleys in the Loop into pop-up exhibition spaces that bring artists and the public together to celebrate the arts. These events will be filled with art, music and so much more. The Chicago Loop Alliance’s mission is to attract investment to the Loop by promoting popular urban experiences.

Their first event is scheduled for June 15 from 5pm – 10pm at Sullivan Center Alley.

The 2017 ACTIVATE theme is Off Street, inviting guests to explore how alleys shape our urban lives. Each event in the series will focus on a different aspect of alley life. The first event at Sullivan Center alley is titled “Playground- The Rec Room of the Block,” and it will transform the alley into an urban playground.

The Chicago Loop Alliance is working with PORT Urbanism, an architectural and urban design firm, to bring a graphic and architectural element to the events. In addition to the art, there will be a breakdancing battle with DJ Moz Definite and Illanoiz, professional ping-pong players that will compete with guests, a pop-up barber shop, a skate jam and body painting. There will also be performances by the Four Star Brass Band, DJ Roho Garcia and more.

Don’t know about you, but this is something we’re dying to see. How will all of this fit in one alley?

If you’re interested in the event, you can RSVP in advance and get a free drink ticket. Tickets can be purchased here.

There will be other ACTIVATE events throughout the summer. Keep up with their website for specific locations and event details.
