Act Now Or Forever Hold Your Peace

Peace on Earth

I am starting to become numb to all the violence and disgusted all at the same time. All of the pain and the tragedy that our world goes through on a daily basis is enough to make a grown man cry. With the never-ending cycle of horror and harm that is continuously plaguing our society as a whole, I am starting to wonder if the day for citizens to stand up against violence and unrest and demand peace on earth will ever happen. We need to act now or forever hold our peace.

With every day that passes by that peace is not demanded of ourselves, others, and of society as a whole, the harder it will be to demand such actions and truths. Every second that passes, tensions rise, anger builds, and violence will soon explode. Every minute that passes, someone loses a loved one or a friend. The peaceful citizens of the world are not far and few between. We are many. We are soldiers of peace and peaceful actions must be taken to stop the violent actions of the few.

Throughout history, we have seen the use of peaceful, nonviolent resistance and protest, with one of the earliest known cases of peaceful resistance being in China in 470 BCE. The most recent form of peaceful protests have been the associated with the Occupy Movement and the Arab Spring. In the face of danger, fear, violence and oppression, peaceful individuals have risen up, in peaceful protest, to stare down the evil forces that harm our society, with our global society, with fear and aggression. The violent beings of this planet think they have the upper hand with fear and anguish, but what they forget is the healing power of love and peace. But we also, as peace givers, forget this as well. We do not recognize our own strengths.

It may be time for us to grasp the power of peace and light that most citizens of this globe possess and fight back the only way we know how…through peace. If we stand up, as one global protest, to demand peace on earth and good will towards men, we might be able to bring about a change in dynamics and finally put a stop to the mindless shootings, bombings, killings and murders.

“The real differences around the world today are not between Jews and Arabs; Protestants and Catholics; Muslims, Croats, and Serbs. The real differences are between those who embrace peace and those who would destroy it; between those who look to the future and those who cling to the past; between those who open their arms and those who are determined to clinch their fists.” ~William J. Clinton, 1997
