Abstract Art : 2011, Abstract Painting Evolution (part II)

Modern art by Antonio Basso: from figurative painting to a modern abstract art concept

I finished the previous post with some new a never imagined by me abstract drawings. After making them, my modern art production started to flow again and has not gone back to figurative any more.

I made more black and white abstract drawings. After finishing them I decided adding color to the following ones using pastels, a technique I had left apart since I used it in my initial artworks. I also decided to recover the abstract art matrix concept I had started in 2010.

My idea was to renew the matrix concept with more color, adding depth to the surface, movement, and an infinite visual feeling in which nor beggining nor end could be appreciated. I also tryed to really flow while drawing. The process had to be free and unconscious but at the same time I wanted equilibrium in the final abstract art drawings. The resulting pastel artworks were these…

The above drawings, together with some new abstract oil paintings I made around the renewed matrix concept and the new techiques introduced in my art, allowed me to finally make my first abstract art exhibition in Barcelona. It was july 2011 and I will never forget the date. A dream came truth!!!!

Then summer came. I stopped painting for two months untill I got to understand the new art I wanted to make. It had to be simpler, with more volume, authentic, I wanted to focus my point on view and add more mistery … and I finally got it. The focus point was going to be TENSION and a new modern art series called TIES showed up.
