The first “weird” thing…shop in person. I don’t care if you spend every night for a month researching diamonds on every single online jeweler you can find on Google. Actually I do, but only because I love you and care about your sanity. I also don’t care if you pin literally 300 engagement rings to your Pinterest board (because that’s what I would do, too.) But what I don’t want is for you to limit yourself only to online shopping if you’re having a hard time finding exactly what you want.

Obviously, if your first search turns up your dream ring, right within your budget, with no more questions on your part, then you don’t even need to be reading this, you gorgeous, beautiful genius! Go drink some champagne and start worrying about your seating chart. BUT if your endless searching keeps turning up rings that are close – but not quite what you want, or rings that are PERF (exceptforthepricetag) then I want you to close the browser and open your maps app.

If you’re in South Florida, obviously just go to Diamonds by Raymond Lee. If you’re not, you can still check out online, over the phone, or via telegram (I think.) And if you fall in love with one of our settings, but don’t have an authorized retailer nearby, what you’re really looking for is a center stone. And those aren’t easy to buy sight unseen online. It can definitely be done, but I’d recommend shopping in person first so you can get a feel for what a 1.35 carat G, VS1 actually looks like.

“Ok, duh, but how does this save me money?”
BECAUSE you get two experiences. One, the invaluable realization that you cannot tell the difference between diamonds (seriously you can’t, here’s why.) Two, you get the expert experience. In the age of DIY, where we expect to be able to research, comparison shop, and check out all by ourselves, this is indeed a “weird” thing to do – a relic from a gentler age, and a lot less work for us. You get pampered by an attentive salesperson showing you diamonds on velvet lined trays (because you’re buying a diaaaaamond, daaahling, and you deserve to feel fancy.) You get to ask as many questions as you need to , with the benefit of a human who gets what you’re trying to say, even if you’re not using just the right terms for his or her search algorithm. And if you say “I love this ring, I love it I love it I love it, but it’s $5,000 too much,” then the human helping you can – and will – bend over backwards to find a solution. You’re not restricted to just lowering your search parameter by $5k. And she might even have a setting that looks nearly identical, but happens to be $4,995 less expensive. Or can show you easily how to save $4,000 on a diamond by maximizing the 4 C’s.
It might feel weird, but it’s worth your while (in US dollars.)
