A Unique Destination Wedding That Kiwi Couples Will Love!

By Jax

As soon as I laid eyes on today's wedding I knew Kiwi couples would love it! It might have taken place in Cape Town, South Africa, but is has everything local couples love. An elegant but rustic venue (similar to the vineyards here!), a bohemian and effortless vibe, a modern design element in the table settings (how cool are those lights!), a blend of cultures and last but not least our beloved meringues! Nom nom.

The wedding was a mix of South African hospitality, Portuguese flair and family life, with a touch of bohemian and an absolute fantastic energy from all the love bursting out of everyone's chest. - Reni & Deon, Modern Hearts

And want to know something awesome with awesome sauce? Photographers Reni & Deon from Modern Hearts will be in NZ this November (and they are thinking of moving here for... like... ever!), woop woop! xox

We had mutual friends & then we kept bumping into each at yoga & the beach, one thing led to another...

Walking down the aisle we played Miriam Makeba The Wedding Song (an African wedding song) for our first dance we played Only Love by Ben Howard.

My dress was a splurge but totally worth it! I skipped the table favors & I also did an e-invite to save on printing. The venue allowed us to do corkage for our wine and bubbles which was a big help. I focused on having a beautiful venue with delicious food & drinks and good entertainment.

Carlos made our 'Bar La' sign & some of the other signage.

The hardest part was sticking to the budget, it is very tempting to keep adding on extras! The fun part was planning the day & all the details that would be a surprise for our guests... the beautiful venue, surprise dessert room, the DJs.

Decide on what is most important for you & focus on those elements. You don't have to have all the 'traditional' elements of a wedding, I didn't do table favors as most people end up leaving them behind! I decided on an e-invite so I could print nice name tags & menus. Our venue also allowed corkage which was a big saving.
