A Night at The Mark

By Yonni @vegandthecity
On Tuesday night I had a chance to dine with 3 of my favorite Manhattan-ites at The Mark at The Mark Hotel, just off Madison at 77th.  I had never been there before, but I know I can rely on these girls for glamorous, quality meals so I was looking forward!
Well, even with the lofty price tag, this posh, stunning Jean-Georges Vongerichten venue lived up to my high expectations.  The menu, described on the website as "world class" with "subtly innovative European classics as well as Jean-Georges' signature global seasonings" met each of our tastes (as did the variety of cocktails and wine we ordered.)
We dined in comfort on beautiful upholstered chairs, and despite the packed house, were really able to hear each other when we spoke (with four friends who don't see one another nearly enough, that's critical!)  As for the food, which almost seemed a backdrop, I loved the chilled, steamed artichoke with dressed frisee to start.  For dinner I had perfectly cooked maitake mushrooms, lightly topped with sesame seeds and a little lime juice, and roasted asparagus.  All very simple and all very delicious.
I highly recommend you grab a loved one (or ones) and see for yourself...talk about vegan and fabulous!
