A Modern Kids' Room with Custom Bunk Beds

By Dwell @dwell
For a family with three young children, Brooklyn-based furniture company Urbangreen devised durable, modern bunk beds. In addition to incorporating two twin-size and two full-size beds into the 240-square-foot room, the designers needed to wedge in two desks and ample storage. The result: a cozy kids' room complete with cubbies, book storage, and a place to do homework. View Slideshow Slideshow custom bunk beds made from walnut wood

Urbangreen selected walnut wood coated in a clear, low-VOC finish for the custom bunk beds. "It brings out the natural beauty and detail of of the grain," says Elias Didaskalou of Urbangreen. "The materials used had to be not only look good, but also ensure durability and longevity. Sustainability for Urbangreen, along with lowering our carbon footprint, also means handcrafting pieces that last a lifetime: Non-disposable furniture that will not end up in a landfill."
