Daisybutter - Hong Kong Lifestyle and Fashion Blog: Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay Cologne review

Documenting my first Jo Malone fragrance experience. It’s Sod’s Law that all of your fragrances will somehow run out at the same time, isn’t it? How does that even happen? I don’t wear them all at once! Regardless, that’s what happened to me last month, so as soon as payday peeked its’ pretty head around the corner, I practically threw my money at Jo Malone London.
Long-term readers of my blog will probably remember my infatuation with Jo Malone candles a few months ago but I’m a newcomer to their fragrances! I know; bad blogger alert ;) After a quick spritz on my own at the Jo Malone boutique in ifc’s Lane Crawford, I was shown around the core range and most favoured scents by a super-helpful advisor, Cherry.
I arrived with a strong determination to pick up the English Pear and Freesia Cologne or something musky or jasmine-inspired but after a brief consultation with Cherry, I decided on the wildly popular Peony and Blush Suede scent. A sensual and flirtatious floral, Peony and Blush Suede is rounded off with notes of red apple and jasmine, making it an inherently feminine, ideal day-to-night scent.
She also recommended adding another cologne to work as a highlight scent, which I must admit I’d never heard of doing. The colognes are all indulgently light and they can easily be blended to suit new moods and occasions, and after trying a few combinations, I decided on the fresh and lusciously warm Blackberry and Bay. The two pair beautifully and I think it’d make an ideal Sunday date afternoon scent.
Needless to say, I’m completely smitten with my new colognes and can’t stop singing their praises to all of my Jo Malone virgin friends! A really lovely touch at the Lane Crawford boutique is that my advisor sent me a handwritten note a few days afterwards to thank me for my purchase and invite me to a complimentary hand massage and fragrance consultation. Weekend plans, sorted.
