A Horse Walks into a Bar won the Man Booker Prize 2017. The novel authored by Israeli author David Grossman is about a final show of a standup comedian Dovaleh Gee. David will share the prize money worth £ 50000 with the English translator of the same novel Jessica Cohen.

David is one of the bestselling authors in Israeli literature. He has already been honored with numerous awards including the French Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Letters, the Buxtehuder Bulle in Germany, Rome's Premio per la Pace e l'Azione Umanitaria, the Frankfurt Peace Prize, and Israel's Emet Prize.

A Horse Walks into a Bar, a novel brings out different emotions like friendship, love, betrayal, guilt and others. It is a fast phased and gripping tale of Dovaleh. The novel has already won hearts of many. The Guardian has stated that "This isn't just a book about Israel: it's about people and societies horribly malfunctioning. Sometimes we can

A Horse Walks into a Bar was among 126 shortlisted books for the prestigious prize. The panel of five judges has finalized the results and announced by director of the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Nick Barley.

It is the second single book to get the Man Booker Prize. David and Jessica will receive £ 25000 each.
