A Film About David Foster Wallace Is Coming

By Robert Bruce @robertbruce76

I’m quite intrigued by this.

A film about David Foster Wallace is on the way, and will release in theaters on July 31. The movie stars Jason Segel as David Foster Wallace and Jesse Eisenberg as David Lipsky.

It’s based on Lipsky’s 2010 book, Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself, which followed Lipsky and DFW on a five-day road trip right after Infinite Jest blew up and became a huge success.

The film has generated slight controversy because it hasn’t been endorsed by DFW’s Literary Estate. They’ve said Wallace would never had agreed to being portrayed in film. However, early critical reviews have been positive, with it currently scoring a 94% over at Rotten Tomatoes. It was also positively received at the Sundance Festival in January.

I’m excited about this film, and I’ll definitely be seeing it.

Here’s the official trailer.
