A Day at the Spa at Hotel Hershey – #Hershey #Rambleon

By Kenin Bassart @Constantramble

What’s better than a day at the spa!?! Well, a day at the spa plus chocolate of course! Kenin and I recently visited the Spa at Hotel Hershey in Pennsylvania. I am sure you have heard of Hershey right? That’s the place where they make chocolates :) lots and lots of chocolates! I dreamed many nights about being rubbed down in cocoa and breathing in all the yummy smells this spa had to offer. I found myself thinking about it weeks before we even made it to Pennsylvania. I made it abundantly clear to my husband that we were not leaving the state until I made a visit to the spa. Kenin’s answer to me: “If you spend a day at the spa, you need company.” He can be pretty opportunistic at times, but hey, I didn’t care as long as it meant that I got to go.

I opted for the famous “Cocoa Massage”. This is a relaxing rub down with oils infused with cocoa oil. I’m not going to lie, I really wanted to bite myself when it was all over. I smelled delectable. Kenin chose to have a very “manly” facial. We checked into the spa, enjoyed a complimentary steam in the house sauna, dressed in the fluffiest bathrobes ever, and our spa day commenced. No photos are allowed since everyone is walking around in robes and I didn’t want to muck up anyone’s zen moment stalking around like the paparazzi. Here is a beautiful photo of the inside of the hotel as a visual holdover.

After getting “dressed” for our spa day, we were led into the “maze of enlightenment”. Okay so it was just a lot of twisty hallways with treasures behind every door, so I thought it deserved a cool moniker like “maze of enlightenment”. We were escorted to the “Quiet Room”. In this room, you can sip a cup of tea and have a nibble of some chocolates while waiting for your treatment. You and your friends can whisper amongst yourselves or read a magazine while waiting. Across the hall was the “Silent Room”. This room is for the same purpose but prohibits noise of any kind… absolute zen!

I walked into my treatment room and was immediately transported to a happy place in my mind. Laying on the warm table, with soft music playing, the room dimly lit, I was completely relaxed. My massage consisted of a 60 minute de-stressing rubdown with the most delicious smelling cocoa infused oil. The masseuse worked my tired muscles and all of my troubles floated away into non-existence. Kenin’s facial consisted of a customized treatment to freshen and tone his skin. On top of that he was treated to a nice hand massage and “the most relaxing head scratch/massage ever”. As a matter of fact, he said  “it could have been 60 minutes of that head massage and I would have been happy”.

After our treatments, which were absolutely blissful, we opted to have the spa lunch. This is something that the Spa at Hotel Hershey exclusively offers for people that do a spa treatment. It is highly recommended by most, but in my opinion it should be mandatory. Lunch is served buffet style and consists of lots of healthy fruit and veggies, soups and finger sandwiches. And of course, many chocolate desserts. In my opinion, the best part of all of this is not the food (even though the food is heavenly), it’s the fact that everyone eats lunch in their big fluffy bathrobes…yes you read that correctly, you get to eat in your bathrobe! This is the only time I have ever consumed a meal in a public location and had to be undressed for the occasion. It was so relaxing and comfortable.
