A chic dress, a garden picnic and the Remarkables as a backdrop, whats not to love about today's wedding! Beautifully simple and elegant with just right amount of styling, couple Aimee and Josh first visited Queenstown 6 years ago and returned to tie the knot with close family and friends (now THAT is a good excuse for a holiday!). How did you meet? At work in Australia.
In four words describe your wedding style... relaxed, nature, family, friends
When we went to Queenstown for the first time around 6 years ago and we stumbled across an amazing busker named Mathias the Piano Man, who played an old piano on wheels down at the lake front at sunset. When we were organizing the music for the wedding we decided to see if Mathias was still around Queenstown. Luckily for us, Mathais was still performing in Queenstown and we arranged for Mathais to play his original song called New World whilst Aimee was walking down the aisle. We didn't have a first dance.
Unfortunately a lot of people whom we invited from Australia couldn't make the wedding due to pregnancy/kids/unavailability, so this saved us a lot of money on food/drink at the reception. We splurged on photography (Melissa was amazing), food ( Sasso - the food was beautiful) and wedding rings.
Not really, our wedding planner Stacey did all of the DIY items for us. The only DIY items that we did use, were polaroid pictures which we used for guests as place cards.
The most difficult part of planning the wedding was the fact they we were based in Australia and we were trying to make decisions from abroad. We ended up hiring the services of a wedding planner (Stacey from Colour Me Happy) and this was the best thing we ever did. Without Stacey's help there was no way we would have been able to pull off the wedding!
The most fun part of planning the wedding was having the ability to plan your ideal vision of how you wanted your wedding day to play out. For us, we wanted to bring together our family and friends from abroad and show them just how beautiful Queenstown is!
Prioritize the items in the wedding that mean the most to you as a couple and budget for them. For us, it was important to have a great photographer, a beautiful great venue, fantastic food and ample alcohol.
Also, if you are planning a wedding from abroad, hire a wedding planner as they will save you time and money!
