A cake date!
27.10.16Because mid-week date nights, fueled by cake, are always the greatest, right?
A handful of weeks ago, when it was still bright in the late afternoons and when I’d just begun to draw out the light jackets, Harvey and I adventured to Crouch End for a midweek date night, something we’ve not really indulged in in weeks, maybe even months.
Date nights are often reserved for those tumultuously busy weekends in London as of late, with my preferred working week to be Monday to Thursday and Harvey's stipulated working week falling from Monday to Friday. In fact, it was pretty damn lovely to soak up the quieter vibe of the city and to escape the very particular nuances of East London in favour of ‘The North’.
Hand in hand, we walked through to a nearby park to hatch some eggs and take some photos.
Bright light filtered through the foliage just-so, I totally revelled in wearing an actual jacket after our wonderfully warm summer and we happened upon a delectable little independent cafe, The Haberdashery on Middle Lane.
The Haberdashery is the *sweetest* little place in all the land (pardon the pun!), home to the very best Oreo sponge cake and delicious coffee.
I’m an avid supporter of independent coffee houses; in fact, someday I’d love to run my very own, catching up with regular customers, reading books behind the counter on quieter hours… We found a quiet spot by the window, ordered a flat white (mine!), an iced latte (his) and a huge slab of Oreo cake and almost immediately realised that we’d managed to stumble upon the best cake in Islington. For real.
Crouch End, we'll be back ♥
