Sometimes, the most beautiful places you have left unexplored may be in your very own backyard. Now, I don’t literally mean the backyard of your house (although, that also may encompass of a lovely garden your wife busily planted away).
By “backyard”, I mean the spots and locations within your country or city. United States is a huge piece of land, and without a doubt, has innumerable, beautiful places that are any tourist’s or vacationer’s dream-come-true.
For right now, we’ll stick to the lovely and lustrous locations of Michigan. Ditch your passport and let Michigan be your next travel destination. Here are the top X Michigan attractions you wouldn’t want to miss.
Isle Royale National park:
Isle Royale National park is the 450 sq mile island that leaves many tourists awe-struck. It has lakes, streams, forests, and scores of adventure. Boat trips, camping, and hikes will let you explore the island to its full extent. Beware of the wildlife present, though. You’ll find wolves, foxes, moose, ospreys, gulls, and more scattered on the through forests and lakes.
Windmill Island:
Windmill Island is a park that will save you a trip to Europe for some “culture seeking”. This beautiful 36 acre park has flower gardens and authentic Dutch architecture resembling those you would see in the Netherlands in the mid-20th century. We should also mention the fact that the Windmill Island’s “windmill” is the only original Dutch windmill exported to America. Not only that, but it also works and enables the workers there to sell ground flour to visitors.
Detroit Institute of Arts:
If you’re an art fan, don’t miss the famed Art Institute in Detroit. This esteemed institute has one of the country’s most significant art collections with over 60,000 works of art.
Mackinac Island:
Mackinac Island is built with a tourist in mind .This makes it one of most adventurous and catered-for places in Michigan. You can get a dozen of unique culture on this island with art shows, live performances, distinct residences and what not. You will also encounter traditional-looking houses shops, interesting rocks, and a beautiful beach. The island is full of scenic beauty for photographers and packed with adventure for hikers. This theme park does not allow cars or any other sort of modern transportation inside for preservation purposes. You are allowed to travel by foot or hop on a buggie or a bicycle.

Skip the auto-shows and visit the location full of the world’s first-ever cars. You won’t see these in your everyday life! The Henry Ford museum is every car-lover’s dream come true. See the ancient presidential limousines and the transformation of the first ever car. You will also enjoy the Heros of the Sky exhibit that showcases the earliest airplanes, their inventors, and famous flyers.
State Capitol Building:
While you’re on a Michigan tour, don’t miss the precious State capitol landmark. This isn’t the original capitol building of course, but it was intentionally designed to look a lot like the original state capitol building in Washington DC. You can visit the spot and take a guided tour to learn more about the building, construction process, and history.
Detroit Zoo:
Your kids will hate you if you don’t take them to explore worldwide fauna sheltered in the infamous Detroit Zoo. Your children will love seeing the numerous amphibians, animals, birds, mammals, and reptiles including the ones that are there for conservation efforts: (ospreys, trumpeter swans, penguins, falcons, snow leopards, polar bears, and many more).
Sleeping Bears Dunes:
This spectacular tourist location is full of high dunes, sunny beaches, cool forests, and lakes. And that’s not all! It also has a historic maritime village with lovely farmsteads and much more. Follow the board walk, seek an island sunrise, play on the beach, wander the wilderness, or do whatever your heart desires in this beautiful location.
