HOW FAR ALONG… 29 weeks and a few days, and as unbelievable as it sounds to me, I have officially entered the third trimester! Hello, finish line.

TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN… At the time of my 5 month update, I was up only 8 pounds. Flash forward 4 weeks to my next OB appointment, and that number had gone up by another 6 pounds (eek!). Altogether I’m up 14 pounds which isn’t too bad, but it’s definitely a bit of a shock to continue to see that number climbing higher and higher on the scale. I often have to remind myself that I am actually growing a human, and packing on the pounds right now is only helping him fatten up for birth. I am still hoping to keep the weight gain at a minimum though, fingers crossed!

CRAVINGS… Not that much to report in the craving department again this month. However, carnival season just ended here in New Orleans, and there was no shortage of king cake, sweet treats and seafood to be had. Maybe that explains my 6 pound jump on the scale in only one month…

SLEEP… A good night’s sleep is getting harder and harder to come by. Besides waking up at least twice a night for bathroom breaks, it’s pretty much impossible to find a comfortable sleeping position lately. To top it off I often find myself needing to nap on the weekends at some point during the day, which makes it harder for me to fall asleep at night – but some days it is literally impossible for me to keep my eyes open by midday. Everyone says the lack of sleep is preparation for when bayberries, so I’m definitely getting all my prep in plus some right now.

MATERNITY CLOTHING… No real update on maternity clothing this month. I’ve mainly been wearing the staples (comfy maternity jeans, everyday work pantswhite denim, and a basic chambray top) I purchased last month, and styling them in different ways to keep from getting bored. I’ve reallyyyy been trying to avoid purchasing a lot of maternity clothing, as I just feel it’s sort of pointless to break the bank on things I’ll only be getting a few months wear out of. I am going to need to add a few more tops to my rotation soon, and I have my eye on a couple of fun dresses to carry me through the third trimester. This pom pom trimmed off the shoulder style is beyond adorable, so is the print on this style, and the color on this bright beauty. Best of all, I think I’ll be able to make these dresses work after baby as well – that’s a serious win in my book.

SYMPTOMS… Fatigue, fatigue and more fatigue. By mid afternoon, I often find myself struggling to make it through the rest of the workday – this mama needs all the naps! I’ve also started getting back aches here and there this past month. Thankfully they’re nothing too bad, and resting, propping a pillow up behind my back or putting my feet up usually helps with the achiness. This month I also struggled with some pretty serious preggo anxiety, which was pretty miserable for a few weeks. I’m trying to keep it at bay by relaxing as much as possible, and making lots of to-do lists/action plans to help keep me organized and stress free. It makes me feel so much better when I can organize everything we need to get done before baby arrives, and check things off the list as we go.

SHOPPING… Still buying lots and lots of goodies for baby boy – I just can’t help myself! Old Navy had the best President’s Day sale recently, and I took full advantage of stocking up on goodies for baby. Zara also has some of the cutest baby and kids stuff that you’ve ever laid eyes on, and the hubs has also placed his share of online orders of baby gear from their website. I’m planning on (hopefully!) slowing down a bit this next month until after we have our baby shower. Then it’ll be time to take inventory and stock up on things that we’ll still need to purchase before baby boys big arrival. I do however have my eye on a few adorable things to bring to the hospital for baby’s birth. This shop makes the sweetest baby hats I’ve ever laid eyes on, and I’m in love with this set for newborn photos. Too, cute.
