All of us mechanically carry out cleaning our homes. But little do we know that some practices and products that we use are actually harming our products and home instead of getting them cleaned.

- Using dishwashing liquid to clean the car
Dishwashing liquid is very harsh and can actually damage the paint of the car. Stick to a mild car cleanser, especially for the purpose.
- Acid and bleach to clean rusted taps
Acid and bleach will harm the taps and cause the rust to settle in instead of getting it off.
Use a formula specially developed for removing rust.
- Using laundry stain remover for carpet stains
When we get a stain on our carpets, it is best to use a cleanser especially made to get stains of carpets. Laundry stain removers leave behind residue on the carpets that attract dirt like a magnet.
- Clean stone counters with vinegar
Vinegar is acidic in nature and will etch into and eat into the granite in the long run. Use a mild cleanser instead.
- Mix bleach with other chemicals, especially those that contain ammonia
Bleach mixed with ammonia is a deadly combination. It restricts regular breathing. Bleach should always only be mixed with water for cleaning purposes.
- Dry dusting
When we dust furniture with a dry rag you do not get most of the dust out. You land up simply moving it around and scratching the surface.
Use a cleansing spray meant to clean dirt and grime off furniture.
