Social media is a revolutionary and fundamental part of any effective marketing strategy. However, it only really works if you do a good job of it! That’s why we have devised a list of 6 little social media tricks to help your business succeed online.

These tricks are easy to follow and will help enhance your social media presence, improve engagement rate and help you reach new customers.

Here’s our 6 tricks for you to try out:

  1. Show off your positive customer feedback on Facebook

35% of comments on Facebook pages are compliments but, when a fan comments on your page it often becomes hidden under recent posts by others. However, we do have a trick up our sleeve for featuring positive fan comments on your main timeline:

  • Access your Activity Log by visiting Facebook.com/YourUserName/allactivity and click on posts by others on the left hand side.
  • Click the pencil icon that appears on the right side of the post you’d like to show off and a menu will drop down.
  • Check ‘Allowed on Page’.

Voila!

  1. See what Instagram users are sharing while visiting your business premises (handy for shops & restaurants)

Instagram is fast becoming THE place people share images of their experiences. Your customers may be posing photos from your business’s location and you wouldn’t necessarily know! Here is a great way to see what people post about your business:

  • Take a photo at your business premises to share on Instagram. Edit your photo, you’ll then be prompted with a final screen of options before sharing your photo. In this screen you’ll need to turn on the ‘add location’ feature and enter your location. Note, you need to turn on location services on your phone for the feature to work.
  • If your business does not appear on the location list you can either search for your business’s name or create a custom location.
  • Share your photo, once it’s published a blue location link will appear above the photo – click on that link to see all the photos that have been tagged with that location. You can then scroll through and engage with any of the location tagged photos at your business.
  1. Customise your business’s branding on Twitter

Most social media platforms don’t allow users to customise the look of their profile, however Twitter does. You can customise the wallpaper background, tweet text, hyperlink and hashtag in a specific color that matches your brand.

To be able to do this, click the gear icon on the top right corner of your screen and choose ‘Settings’. Then choose ‘Design’ on the left side of the screen.

Within this menu, you are able to choose a premade theme or customise your own. But don’t fear, If you don’t have a branded ‘wallpaper’ to upload, there are lots of background patterns and color palettes available to customise your Twitter profile, so you can pick the one closest to your branding.

  1. Better company updates for LinkedIn

LinkedIn is an excellent tool to get creative and share content, however if you want to be ahead of the LinkedIn crowd, start posting rich media. This is an easy trick to enhance your content and make your business more interesting for users.

So what is rich media? Images, video links and presentation links. Anything more than just text & plain links.

Links with Videos typically result in a 75 percent higher rate share and links with images result in a 98 percent higher comment rate.

So what are you waiting for, get sharing.

  1. Think about your timing

Timing is everything when it comes to posting on social media, to achieve the optimal amount of likes on Facebook, retweets on Twitter and shares across all sites. It is essential to post during the times of day that your audience are online. Think about your audience, what are they doing? When are they online?  When should you be talking to them in their social space?

There are of course peak times to post too. For example Facebook’s peak hours are between 1pm and 3pm, in the evening around 7-8pm and in the morning before work. Posting at these times might just help get you noticed!

  1. Post perfection

Writing and creating the perfect post can be an art form! Here’s our tip for mastering it…think words, enthusiasm, link or Call To Action.

You should aim to include a link, Call To Action, image or video in most posts. Try and engage your audience, ask questions, be brief and don’t ramble.
