Employ the Professionals
If your site has been badly affected by the Penguin penalty system and has disappeared from the rankings, the wisest thing to do is to seek assistance from a digital media specialist like Click Intelligence to optimize your site, and get it functioning within the parameters that Google sets. Looking back you can probably see that prevention may have been better than cure, and this is something you should have already done, especially if you doesn’t have any knowledge about how Google Search works.
Make a Back Links List
The biggest problem that sites have is with their back links (in particular unnatural links), and you should have access to these all of the time. Creating a list of your back links is necessary to discover which sites are causing you problems, but it could be a nightmare to make. Fortunately, there are tool available to help, so make sure you use one like Google Webmaster Tools. Once you have your list you can start to analyze it to see what is wrong.
Identify Bad and Unnatural Links
You will need to go through your back link list to discover links that are likely to be causing your penalty, and there are some types of sites that penguin will scrutinize the links from more than others. You should be looking at links that come from sites that are not relevant to yours, sites that are deemed untrustworthy, and links from blogging networks. Another thing penguin does not like is a link on a page with a huge number of links in the content, but that is more difficult for you to identify.
Remove the links
To remove all of your links may be impossible, but you should still try to do what you can. You should contact the webmasters of the spammy sites you have identified, and ask them to remove your links; this is not a major concern to webmasters so you should have a good deal of success with this. This is also a great way to show that you are serious about your penalty and should show you in a good light if you need to contact anybody about your penalty.
Disavow the Links
If you have links that you cannot have removed you are going to have to disavow them. Luckily there is a tool available to help you do this and as long as you know the sites the process itself is very easy.
Following these steps is neither complicated or difficult, but by having your links properly administered will save the possibility of losing trade and earnings while you are trying to appease Google. Yes, prevention is probably better than cure.
