5 Instances when surgery is opted for to improve fertility

When some of us realize that getting pregnant is not easy for them like some girls out there they rush to infertility centers and try to diagnose the solutions available at hand. The first step is to diagnose the problem, then move on to the solution which would normally involve months of medication and injections that encourage ovulation.

However there are some instances when medication and other IVF treatments do not and surgery has to be resorted to. Here are listed the instances when one should go in for surgery:

5 Instances when surgery is opted for to improve fertility

1) Poly-cystic Ovaries

Usually PCOD’s can be treated with medication. But in the case when medication does not cure the problem then surgery may be called for.

A procedure called as ovarian drilling is performed where a hold is made using the keyhole surgery procedure and a heat source is used to melt or destroy the cysts or other formations that may be present in the ovaries and are affecting the fertility.

2) Fibroids

When doctors diagnose fibroids the solution that comes to the mind is surgery. Most doctors prescribe surgery so that these fibroids not interfere with fertility in the body. But till date no proof has been discovered as to the negative impact of fibroids to fertility.

3) Fallopian tube issues

In cases when the fallopian tubes are blocked or damaged, the doctor may require you to perform surgery to unblock the tubes or even replaced with other tissue so as restore the tubes to its normal state and rule out fertility problems that arise due to the tubes.

Surgeries in the fallopian tubes are also usually done through the keyhole surgery method.

4) Male fertility

It’s not only the women that suffer from a lot of fertility problems. Even men suffer from the same. For example issues where the semen in blocked due to varicose veins in the region or any other abnormality, surgery is required.

5) Endometriosis

The condition of endometriosis is when the cells present in thelining of the uterus grow in other areas of the body. So surgery is used to remove these extra growths so as to facilitate better fertility.

So if you feel that medication is not helping with your existing fertility problems, then maybe it is time you take the next step and perform a surgery to solve your woes of being unable to bear a child.
