5 Essential Tips for Healthy and Beautiful Skin

Our skin says a lot about us and our personalities. If we have a healthy and radiant skin it tells others that we care about ourselves and are responsible beings. When young girls are growing up they get the acne and if the problem is not handled correctly, it leaves scars on their face. If you have kids of that age do advise them to have more water and to avoid oily foods.

People spend thousands of dollars on skin care as it affects their presentation. Staying well groomed allows us to remain socially active and opens new doors for us, while bad skin can lead to missed opportunities in life due to lack of self-confidence.

Bad skin is caused by many reasons and before we discuss some helpful tips it is good to learn more about the causes as follows:

The first thing we need to avoid is dehydration. Skin cells are made of water and keeping hydrated means we have ample water in our cells. So anytime you feel thirsty go ahead and drink fluids especially water which is rated as the best thing for the skin.

Second, smoking makes our skin dry. Many of us smoke due to stress and staying away from the smokes can greatly enhance the skin health. So reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke on a daily basis and have more fluids. Third, if we keep out in the sun a lot, the UV rays can damage the skin. So do use a sunscreen when you plan to go out in the sun. Fourth, lack of blood circulation also makes the skin dull. Lastly, your skin is what you eat. If you have a diet that is rich in oil and spices you are bound to have bad skin.

Here are some useful tips that will help you maintain a healthy and glowing skin:

1. Have Water and Hydrate the Skin Well

Water hydrates the skin while the Vitamin C in juices makes the skin cells healthier. Use less makeup like blushers, concealers, foundations, and mousse as these contain chemicals that can damage skin health. Do use make up on special events to enhance your looks. After you get back home from the party, use a cleanser, astringent, and a moisturizer so the next the morning when you wake up you do not find an ugly pimple on your skin. Makeup clogs pores and cleansing opens them up.

Besides water and juices, the good moisturizers also keep the skin supple and hydrated. After a shower, moisturize the skin and before you go to bed keep a towel soaked in warm water over your face to undo any clogged pores. It is good not to over-wash your face as it will get dry and sensitive. Wash it twice a day, when you wake up and before you go to bed.

2. Cut Down Smoking

Smoking dries out the skin. If you smoke a lot do take in a lot of juices and eat healthy foods. Exfoliate facial skin twice a week. Scrub the face to get rid of dead cells that can clog your pores which can cause acne, blackheads, and whiteheads. Good scrubs will enhance skin health and give the skin a natural glow beside getting rid of the toxins.

3. Avoid the Sun and Use a Good Sunscreen

If you are driving in the daytime or going out for fishing do not forget to put on some sunscreen. A skin doctor can advise you the type of SPF you need. This will help prevent skin cancer and early skin aging. Too much sun exposure can also cause sunburns and rashes. You may also get tanned beyond your expectations. If you intend to stay under the sun for a few hours, use a hat and sunglasses to protect your face from harmful UV rays.

4. Build an Exercise Regimen

Exercise on a regular basis as it is important for our blood circulation. Headstands increase the flow of blood to your head and face and will help keep facial skin healthy. The skin needs more oxygen and this is the best way to have the blood supply it to the skin cells. Walking in a nice park is also good for the skin. Get rid of the stress and enjoy a feeling of well-being when you are out in the park. Stay close to nature and walk on the grass if you can.

5. Eat more Veggies and Fruits

Cut down on fried foods and spices that are bad for skin. Avoid fast foods as the fats they use are not good for general health or skin health. Have more Vitamin C-rich foods such as fruits and veggies. Vitamin C helps in the production of collagen which keeps our skin supple and moist. Keeping it in our daily diet also helps prevent early wrinkles. As an antioxidant, it prevents collagen damage. This way you will not get fine line and wrinkles and hence delay skin aging. So have more broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts strawberries, oranges, and grapefruits. Add more Vitamin A to the diet by having more carrots, spinach, turnips, sweet potatoes, and squash. Green leafy vegetables are a good source of beta-carotene which is good for cell formulation.
