Getting a proper SEO done on your website is critical if you want it to be featured on the results page of search engines like Google, Bing etc. And just basic SEO like heading, Meta description etc won’t suffice. You need to use other tactics and techniques as well. But deciding which tactics to use can be quite a tricky affair given the plethora of advices floating around the internet. So, we decided to prepare a short list of 4 things you must definitely do in addition to the basic SEO.

Loading Speed

Ensure that the website loads quickly, without too much delay. If your website takes too long to load, not only will the visitors move away from your website, but Google too will see it as a negative. In fact, it is estimated that about 29% of visitors will switch away from your website in case it lags too much. If you are unsure whether your website is loading fast or not, visit Google’s PageSpeed Insights service and check it out yourself. And if it does show that your website is loading slower than normal, then you will need to consult a good SEO specialist to resolve the issue.

Internal Links

For your homepage SEO, consider adding internal links which point to relevant content on your website. As far as possible, avoid having links with phrases that have no relation to the website content. You can assign a section of the page exclusively for the links, rather than spreading them around indiscriminately throughout the webpage. Many companies put such relevant links at the footer. And not only are they a good SEO practice, but also offers your viewers an easy way to quickly get into webpages they are looking for.

Mobile Friendly

Your website needs to be mobile friendly. And the best way to achieve this is by coding the website using responsive web technologies. If your website cannot adapt to the device and restructure itself accordingly, then it can be a black mark for the site. In fact, your site will not sit well with Google and other search engines. This is because Google loves websites which are easy to use. And in terms of user friendliness, mobile responsive websites wins hands down.

SSL

Having an SSL certificate on your website will definitely give you some brownie points when Google’s search bots index it. SSL is essentially proof that your website is using industry standard security. You can see if your website has SSL certificate by checking whether the URL starts with https or http. If it is the former, then you do have an SSL enabled website. If not, consider getting a certificate as soon as possible. Remember to use only 2048-bit key certificates.

So, try to implement one or a few of the above SEO techniques on your website and it is sure to look more appealing to the search engines.
